It’s comforting to know that there’s a premium on safety, both for those who work in events venues and for the clients as well. With this in mind, here are some health and safety protocols that events venues are implementing under GCQ.

Regular sanitation routine

Even under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) it was a requirement that all visitors in buildings, whether for essential businesses or deliveries, sanitize their footwear and hands before entering and interacting with the personnel there. This is no different under GCQ. From the events venue’s end, we’re expecting more stringent cleaning procedures before and after every client. On the client’s end, many essential businesses have been using logbooks to track the visitors who enter and exit the premises, taking their temperatures, and requiring them to sanitize their hands to enter the building.

Use of masks

Masks are an essential part of protecting ourselves from viruses, especially COVID-19. They prevent possible virus-laden droplets from entering our respiratory system as well as prevent us from possibly spreading illnesses to others. We’ve seen masks become the norm during the height of the pandemic, and it looks like they’re here to stay.

Social distancing measures

Since events venues are being used as photo and video shoot locations, actors or models may have to interact with one another. However, for the team behind the scenes, following social distancing guidelines can help lessen the possibility of transmission between people. Couple this with masks and stringent sanitation, and you have a strong defense against health concerns.

Staff and crew cooperation

As a team, it’s important that they’re all on the same page regarding the safety measures. On top of the agenda for work, briefings and general assembly meetings between staff and crew members should contain updates on the latest health protocols endorsed by the public and health sector. 

Producers or heads should be ready with masks, sanitizing agents, and other protective items in the event a worker needs one. If this standard of safety is applied to the client and non-audiovisual staff as well, the safer the event will be.

It’s only when we cooperate with each other that we’re able to protect one another. These protocols are necessary not only for the client’s sake, but also for the sake of those who handle the events space.
